Thornton-le-Dale is a pretty village on the fringe of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has some very attractive cottages in pleasant settings and houses with great character.

The most photographed attraction is a small attractive thatched cottage near the stream that runs through the village. It will provide you with a perfect postcard cottage photo.

Thornton-le-Dale has easy access to the Moors and Dalby Forest. The market town of Pickering (2 miles) is home to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. The city of York and the coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are within a 30 minute drive and they are also served by good bus services.

Thornton-le-Dale boasts some lovely tearooms, excellent restaurants, inns, a good choice of craft and gift shops. You must visit the Chocolate Factory, which is renowned for its delicious hand made chocolates.
