Skipton is known as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’ and is perfectly placed for exploring Bolton Abbey, Grassington, Settle and the whole of the Yorkshire Dales. There are a number of excellent walks around local Skipton countryside. The town has a swimming pool, golf and a number of excellent leisure facilities.
Skipton has a superb Medieval Castle which hosts a number of events throughout the summer months. The regular markets in the High Street are on four days a week. There are many local shops, restaurants, tea-shops and inns serving meals.
There is plenty to do. Take a trip on the Leeds to Liverpool canal on one of the colourful barges through the beautiful countryside. Venture a little further afield and you can visit Hawes, Leyburn, York and the Lake District.
