The beautiful Cliff House Cottages Victorian walled gardens provide the ideal spot in which to relax whilst children will be delighted with the play area, especially its wonderful secret tree house. Walking and cycling paths from the doorstep directly into Netherby Dale, and passing through the Chafer Wood nature reserve, lead to Dalby Forest with its miles of forest trails, picnic spots and the Bridestone rock formations.
Glorious journeys on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway start only 6 miles away at Pickering, and Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall (National Trust) and Sledmere House are nearby. Sandy beaches and traditional fun are found at Scarborough (12 miles) and both Flamingo Land theme park and the interactive wartime museum of Eden Camp are within easy reach. Picturesque Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are under 20 miles as are the quaint Yorkshire Moors villages featured in TV's 'Heartbeat' programmes. York's Jorvik Viking centre, National Railway Museum, medieval shopping streets and Minster are just 30 miles away. Cycle hire 5 miles. Fishing nearby. Shop, riding and golf 1 mile.
